Our client is a large international group. They seek an experienced manager to join their in-house team which deals with tax for the UK and Europe. In this role you will deal with a mix of corporate tax compliance review and management, tax reporting and advisory work. Working on a hybrid basis (minimum 2 days in the Huddersfield office) your role will involve:
• Ensure Compliance: By overseeing the preparation and submission of UK corporation tax returns, you’ll ensure timely and accurate filings, maintaining the group’s compliance with tax regulations.
• Maximize Tax Benefits: Your advice on R&D and Patent Box claims will help the group maximize tax benefits, leading to significant cost savings.
• Strategic Tax Planning: Providing strategic tax advice will optimize the group’s tax position, identifying opportunities for tax savings and efficient tax structuring.
• Risk Mitigation: By maintaining the tax risk register and ensuring compliance with SAO and CCO regulations, you’ll mitigate tax risks and align tax strategies with business goals.
• Accurate Reporting: Managing the tax accounting process for statutory accounts and group reporting will ensure accurate tax provisions and deferred tax calculations, supporting financial transparency.
• Collaboration: Working closely with finance, legal, and the global tax team, you’ll provide essential tax guidance on day-to-day operations and strategic decisions, fostering a collaborative environment.
• External Relationships: Managing relationships with external tax advisors and liaising with HMRC will ensure the company receives timely and accurate advice, effectively handling tax audits and disputes.
• Adaptability and Growth: With the potential to expand your role to cover non-UK European operations, you’ll contribute to the group’s broader tax strategy and operations, showcasing your adaptability and growth within the organization.
This role would suit a corporate tax specialist with large UK group experience likely gained in a larger accountancy firm or in industry. Ideally you will have a relevant professional qualification (ACA, ICAS, CTA, ATT or equivalent). This is a great in-house role with a generous benefits and bonus package. Perfect for someone who lives in or near Huddersfield.
