Indirect Tax Lead

Brewer Morris are looking for an experienced Indirect Tax professional to lead and manage the indirect tax function of a large UK based company. The role reports directly to the Head of Tax and will be responsible for shaping the indirect tax strategy, providing expert advice, and ensuring full compliance with tax regulations. This role also involves guiding a small team, supporting major projects, and continuously improving our processes.

Key Responsibilities:

· Lead the development and execution of the company's indirect tax strategy.

· Manage and mentor the indirect tax team, encouraging collaboration and growth.

· Provide clear and proactive tax advice on business initiatives, property deals, and transformation projects.

· Ensure all tax filings are accurate and submitted on time, keeping up with current laws and regulations.

· Identify tax planning opportunities and prepare for upcoming changes in legislation.

· Work closely with teams across the business (finance, legal, property, etc.) to align tax compliance within day-to-day operations.

· Oversee tax-related aspects of system upgrades, automation, and digital transformation projects.

· Maintain strong governance and risk management practices related to indirect tax.

· Review VAT returns and ensure they meet internal and external requirements.

Requirements:

· Professional tax qualification (e.g. ACA, ACCA, ATT, or CTA) with strong post-qualification experience in VAT.

· A background in providing tax advice in a commercial environment.

· Strong leadership and communication skills, with experience managing teams or a minimum has had oversight of staff.

· A strategic thinker who can simplify complex tax issues and guide stakeholders effectively.

· Comfortable supporting business transformation efforts.
