An exciting global power technology organisation are looking to recruit a Senior VAT Analyst to join their team at their office in Huddersfield on a hybrid, full-time basis. The company operates around components, engine, distribution, and power systems throughout the globe. It is a well-established, highly respected organisation who are looking to bring in someone experienced in corporation tax and management to help their fast-paced group.Your new role
As a Senior VAT Analyst, you will report to the UK and Europe Director for VAT. You will manage VAT compliance across UK and European entities, liaise with external compliance providers, and collaborate with internal stakeholders to offer VAT-related guidance. You will also lead process reviews, optimise foreign VAT recovery, support audits, mitigate risks, and provide expert input on VAT considerations for business projects. Key Accountabilities:
* Ensure Compliance: You will be responsible for the monthly VAT compliance process for all UK & European entities within the Drivetrain Braking Systems, which is part of the
business.
* External Relationships: You will own the relationship with the external VAT outsource compliance provider, ensuring that the end-to-end process works efficiently.
* Collaboration: Working closely with key stakeholders (including finance & IT) in the business, you will provide essential guidance on VAT-related topics.
* Proactive Review: Your ability to lead proactive process reviews will ensure that controls relating to VAT remain secure.
* Maximise VAT recovery: By working closely with our external provider you will make sure foreign VAT reclaims are maximised.
* Audit Support: You will assist with information requests for VAT audits and respond appropriately to tax authority interventions.
* Risk Mitigation: Your skills in identifying and mitigating risks will feed into the UK SAO process and contribute to meeting HMRC requirements in the UK.
* Project support: your VAT expertise will provide invaluable input into business projects, where VAT considerations need to be carefully evaluated and managed.
What you'll need to succeed
* Tax Qualification and Experience: A CTA qualification (or local equivalent) and 2-3 years of relevant VAT experience will provide the foundational knowledge and expertise required.
* Technical Knowledge: A strong understanding of UK and EU VAT principles will ensure you can effectively manage compliance and advisory tasks.
* Analytical Skills: Attention to detail is essential to being able to review VAT returns effectively and identify areas for follow-up action.
* Communication and Problem-Solving: Strong communication skills and problem-solving abilities will enable you to effectively collaborate with stakeholders and address any issues that arise.
