Brewer Morris are supporting this global financial services firm with hiring their newly created Senior Indirect Tax Manager position. You will report directly into the Head of Indirect Tax and will have responsibility for the UK, LATAM and India jurisdictions.
Your main focus will be on the UK market, providing critical indirect tax advice to the business aiding day to day and strategic decisions.
Responsibilities:
* Provide indirect tax advice on transactions and projects within your jurisdiction areas. While this is heavily VAT focused, there will be other indirect taxes to advise on.
* Build and nurture strong business partnering relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
* Review UK VAT returns, with a view to minimise risk and VAT liabilities whilst identifying areas of improvement.
* Continually review the UK Partial Exemption Methodology and ensure it remains fit for purpose.
* Be a key point of contact for liaisons with HMRC.
* Compile information and analysis on important indirect tax stances and rulings. In order to reach an agreement with the Group's auditors, the positions taken regarding possible tax reserves will also be evaluated.
*Take the lead in managing and documenting the indirect tax strategy for the group.
* Keep up to date with relevant legislation and inform the group of any changes or impact these may have.
* Provide VAT training to the broader business, commercial, and finance colleagues by maintaining a strong technical awareness of indirect tax concerns within the financial services/fintech sector and cultivate a solid commercial understanding of the sector.
Requirements:
* ACA, CTA or equivalent Qualified Accountant (Qualified by experience may be considered with exceptional relevant experience)
* Experience with Partial Exemption Methods
* Outstanding technical proficiency and knowledge of the UK VAT system.
* Ideally experience withing a financial services setting, otherwise a fast paced corporate environment
* Proficiency in handling HMRC contacts, partial exemption negotiations, and UK business risk reviews.
* Knowledge of strategic VAT issues and the capacity to show a beneficial business impact.
* It is helpful to be exposed to taxes outside of EMEA, such as in LATAM and India.
* Excellent interpersonal skills to build collaborations with different stakeholders and successfully communicate with a variety of business stakeholders at all levels.
* Proactive, well-organised, and capable of setting priorities for several activities.
