This is a newly created role with a modern and fast growing independent  firm based in Bristol. Clients are local and nationwide SME’s and consist of exciting brands with ambitious plans for growth. They benefit as technology is put to good use allowing the team to focus more time on high level proactive advice. As a result, they have an enviable client retention rate and impressive levels of new business. Now looking to restructure the management team by adding a dedicated Tax Manager.

The role of Tax Manager will take responsibility for all tax planning delivered whether directly to clients or via one of our Account Manager’s. This involves reviewing accounts, identifying tax saving opportunities and determining profit extraction methods.

The ideal candidate will solely oversee the output of the payroll department, and be comfortable with auto-enrolment and the most common pension schemes used to ensure that our clients are compliant, and the operation of the department works seamlessly. The successful candidate would train junior members of staff to perform payroll duties and review their work.

Personal and corporation tax return preparation, training and review will be a large part of the role. They prepare several R&D claims, share option schemes and capital allowance claims and so the preferred candidate would be comfortable making such claims.

There is also have a high expectation that candidates are comfortable to research and apply tax legislation although support is provided in this area when necessary.

Important skills required will be one of working in a team, developing apprentices and trainee accountants and working in a team in the interests of our clients.

High importance is placed on tax technical knowledge but more importantly it’s application in practice.

The role is intended to be full time however may suit a part time candidate also.

A full driving license will be an advantage.

Office hours are 8.30 – 5.30 with a one hour break. Flexibility is given where possible.
