The ideal candidate will have significant post-qualification experience in investment tax within a professional accountancy practice or the insurance/asset management industry. The candidate must possess the ability to design, establish, and maintain controls over investment tax processes. In addition, candidates should be adept at applying specialist investment taxation skills and knowledge, effectively communicating taxation impacts to non-tax specialists within the organisation. Research skills are essential to identify and recommend optimal positions for the company concerning investment tax matters.
The ability to build and maintain relationships at all levels of the organisation, persuading and influencing others through effective communication and diplomacy, is crucial. Previous experience in accounting, actuarial, regulatory, and legal issues within a financial services group environment is highly desirable.
Responsibilities of this role include serving as the go-to person for all investment tax queries, determining tax calculation policies and processes for relevant funds, and designing and implementing controls and processes for investment tax calculations. The Tax Manager will be accountable for the accurate preparation of foreign tax forms, ensuring advantageous tax results for each jurisdiction where the company invests. They will also be responsible for providing accurate and timely investment tax data for corporate tax reporting and compliance. Staying abreast of relevant changes in tax legislation and practice and assessing their impact on the company's activities are vital aspects of the role. Additionally, the Tax Manager will assist the Head of Tax with investment tax compliance issues arising from business changes.
To excel in this position, candidates should possess excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to present and facilitate discussions with larger groups, including executives. Experience in managing internal and external delivery partners, a strong commercial/business awareness, and a proven track record of managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders and suppliers are highly valued. Familiarity with different project management methodologies and tools, along with proficiency in MS Office and project software, is desirable. Knowledge of both Legacy (on-prem) and Cloud (Azure) software, as well as infrastructure and networking skills, would be advantageous.
